Visit Poenari Castle and Bran Castle in a full day tour from Brasov. In this tour the main character of talking will be Vlad the Impaler, the real person behind the fictional character Dracula.

We will visit Bran Castle, the castle also known as “Dracula’s Castle”, which is built on a hilltop with view on each part of the valley. The castle got its fame from the novel “Dracula”, written by Bram Stoker and Dracula movie due later directed by Francisc Ford Copplola.

The Bran Castle tour will show us the castle’s many well-preserved rooms and chambers. Gothic furnishings and details help set the scene for ghastly legends of all that happened here, including the imprisonment of Vlad the Impaler.

After the visit you will have time to take some souvenirs just outside of the castle, where you can find “Dracula” gifts, and local handmade things of wool and wood.

The next stop will be the visit of Poenari Castle which is standing on a cliff but know in ruins this is known as the real castle of Vlad the Impaler.

To visit Poenari Castle we must climb up its 1400 steps (takes approx. 1 hour). Once you arrive to the top we will find that the citadel is surprisingly small, one third has collapsed down the mountainside in 1888.

The Poenari visit will start through a narrow wooden bridge, come across the crumbling remains of two towers within; the prism shaped one was Vlad's ( Dracula's) residential quarters, from here, according to the legend , The Vlad's wife flung herself out from the window, declaring that better this way than be captured by the Turks, who were besieging the castle.

After we will visit Poenari Castle we will get back to Brasov.
