In this private tour we will visit Fortified Churches of Transylvania. Four Fortified Churches and a traditional Saxon lunch cooked in a traditional way. The day will start from your accommodation place to Viscri Fortified Church, Bunesti Fortified Church, Crit Fortified Church and Mesendorf Fortified Church.
In our tour the first stop will be at Viscri Fortfied Church and Viscri village where we will visit one of the most interesting Saxon fortified churches of Transylvania, which was visited by Prince Charles. Another issue that deserves attention is the Bacon Tower. Here, due to low temperature, was kept bacon and ham supplies of the villagers, each peace beige inscribed with its owner's house number, to avoid any confusion. Inside one of the towers is arranged an interesting small museum which exhibits traditional costumes, tools and other personal items donated by the Saxons who had left the Viscri village.
We leave Viscri village to the next visit of Fortified Churches of Transylvania, located in Bunesti village. The fortified church in the village of Bunesti, built at the beginning of the 14th century, replaced an older Romanic church. It holds both Romanic and Gothic structural elements. The church received the fortification in the 16th century and was reinforced with circular defense walls and several bastions.
The next stop will be at the restaurant were we will serve traditional Saxon lunch and visit the next Fortified Church in Crit, where the ancient fortified church was demolished in 1810 and the one still standing today took its place.
The fortification is the original one from the 15th century, with a defense wall and 5 towers. From here we will have the last stop in Mesendorf. The Early Gothic style church was built in the 14th century and is the last one in our list for our visit of the Fortified Churches in Transylvania.
The fortified walls was built in the 15th century and the towers were built with pyramid roofs.
After a full day of visiting Fortified Churches in Transylvania, we will hit the road back to Brasov.
