On this 3 hours tour of Brasov we will show you the highlights building and history of the old town. Starting more than 900 years ago the history of Brasov is very close to the knights, the Saxons and the invaders.
We will walk and talk about the Black Church, the narrowest street in Eastern Europe and about the life of the medieval population of the city.
The Black Church dominates the main square and is Brasov's most important monument. It is the largest Gothic Church between Vienna and Istanbul. Called the Black Church because of the Great Fire the city endured in 1689. It took almost 100 years to reconstruct where only 1 of the towers was remade.
You will understand why is the CROWN city and why we have two medieval parts of the city, the Romanian part and the Saxon one.
You will reach extraordinary places that will gave you some great views over the city, and very good spots for photos.
The city has suffered dramatic changes after the Second World War, when a lot of the German population emigrated to Germany and the city was massively industrialized. Today it is one of the most beautiful places in Romania, a city filled with history and situated on the foot of the mountains.
The First Romanian School Museum is housed on the grounds of St. Nicholas Church, this was for centuries one of the leading learning centers of the Romanian people. The printing press that opened here in 1556 produced some of the first books written in Romanian language. The museum hosts a compelling legacy: more than 4,000 rare books (many printed or copied by hand right here), several hundred rare documents, the oldest Bible (printed on goat's skin) and much more.
