In the Noble Castles tour will take you from the legend of Dracula at the contemporary times with hunting and ladies at Cantacuzino Castle, on Prahova Valley. On the list of places we will have a vampire’s castle (Bran Castle) and Cantacuzino Castle.
The day is starting with our trip to Busteni, through the Prahova Valley. We leave behind us some beautiful mountain resorts, Predeal and Azuga and we reach Busteni, where we will visit the sprawling Cantacuzino Castle which was completed in 1911.
The castle was designed as a hunting lodge for Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, who was twice Prime Minister of Romania at the beginning of 20th century. Surrounded by forest hills, and stunning landscapes for sure you will feel like a noble in the castle and the castle garden. After exploring the inner courtyard, the Cantacuzino family church and the hunting tower, there are grottoes and fountains to discover in the gardens and views towards the Bucegi Mountains. A rare collection of Cantacuzino coats of arms is on display.
After the visit of the castle we will hit the road to Bran Castle also known as “Dracula’s Castle”, the castle is built on a hilltop with view on each part of the valley. The castle got its fame from the novel “Dracula”, written by Bram Stoker and Dracula movie due later directed by Francisc Ford Copplola.
We will visit the castle’s many well-preserved rooms and chambers. Gothic furnishings and details help set the scene for ghastly legends of all that happened here, including the imprisonment of Vlad the Impaler.
We will have time to take some souvenirs just outside of the castle, where you can find “Dracula” gifts, and local handmade things of wool and wood.
After or before the Bran Castle tour we will take a short break to eat something traditional.
At this point we will drive you back to Brasov.
