Feel medieval tour will offer the chance to discover Rupea Fortress, a remarkable fortress and having a Sighisoara tour.
We will travel to Rupea Fortress, one of Transylvania’s most impressive medieval fortresses. Built in the 14th century, this hilltop fortress has three levels, with ramparts and terraces up to the summit of the hill. Inside the curtain walls and red-roofed towers are sharing history. The original 60 meter well still have drinkable water. We will understand how Saxon colonists used Rupea as a village in the 18th century, giving it its own market, chapel and meat storerooms, like a peasant fortress.
After this incursion in the history we will keep the road to the medieval, UNESCO-listed town of Sighisoara, one of the best preserved in Europe and the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, Dracula. Founded by Transylvanian Saxons during the 12th century.
Sighisoara is the only city in Romania which looks exactly the same way as in the 16th century and it is also the last still inhabited medieval citadel not only in Transylvania but in whole Europe.
In Sighisoara we will take a short break to eat something traditional.
We will enjoy a walking Sighisoara tour of its medieval center and see its 14th-century Clock Tower, Church on the Hill and the Citadel, we will feel the atmosphere of a medieval city in the modern time.
After the Sighisoara tour we hit the road back to Brasov.
